Snapfish — Lowest Cost Photo Printing and Gifts

By Leanne Tremblay

Snapfish by HP rounds out the big three when it comes to online photofinishing and personalized photo gifts (the other two being Shutterfly and Kodak Gallery).

What strikes us about Snapfish is that clearly it strives to be the most cost competitive. Snapfish pricing is consistently the lowest when it comes to digital prints, photo cards, calendars, and so on.

For example, 4x6 photo prints are 9 cents each every day. With a prepaid plan your can get them for 8 cents—the cheapest we’ve seen. To entice you to try their service, Snapfish offers you a generous 25 free prints.

While Snapfish does not offer a retail pickup location for prints ordered from its web site, it does power the online photofinishing for Walgreens, Wal-Mart, and Costco so the quality and technical know-how is solid.

What We Like

While we don’t find the Snapfish site as easy to navigate and order from as some other sites, we’ve been perfectly happy with the products we’ve ordered. Every order has been processed and shipped promptly.

The best part of Snapfish is the low prices. Photo coffee mugs for example are a steal of a deal. Only $9.99 for an 11oz mug, virtually identical in size and quality to a $15 mug purchased from Photoworks!

What We Ordered

In addition to cheap digital photo prints (at 9 cents per print), we ordered this $10 mug. Shown here on the left compared with a more expensive Photoworks mug on the right.

Virtually identical!

Creating the Snapfish mug was easy because the option for text is built in. With the Photoworks mug (Kiwi), I had to create a second "image" JPEG file of the word Kiwi!.
