Photoworks — Designer Looks for Photo Books, Cards and Gifts

By Leanne Tremblay

Photoworks is a boutique photo publishing company and we like it because the style and variety of products they offer are a bit different.

Photoworks started out life in 1979 as the Seattle FilmWorks and you can still mail in your film rolls for developing. However, their range of digital photo gifts is what attracted us to their services.

In our opinion, the online tools for personalizing photos and gifts are not as smooth or flexible as Shutterfly’s, but in many cases the designs are more unique.

What We Like

Photoworks designs are modern and fresh...they have more of a “designer” feel to them.

Proof BookOne product unique to Photoworks is the Proof Book. It’s a printed record of all the photos in an online album, published in the order uploaded and bound in an attractive archival style soft cover. It includes and index of photos and photo filenames are printed as captions.

We think this is a great way to make an easy album of hundreds of photos taken on vacation or at a special event. You don’t pick and choose or arrange photos to tell a story, like in a photo book. Just print them all.

Like Shutterfly, Kodak Gallery and  Snapfish, once ordered, our gifts were processed and shipped out promptly. We never had to wait long.

What We Ordered

In addition to digital photo prints, we ordered several baby brag book in this cute floral cover. The book was tinyer than I imagined, but still perfect for keeping in your purse.
